Software Products

The primary product underlying many software development activities at the Texas office of Altair Engineering is ProPHLEX. ProPHLEX is marketed, on a limited basis, as a commercial product allowing end users to create finite element applications for various classes of computational physics without having to develop finite element shape functions, data structures, etc.

Using ProPHLEX as a computational kernel, Altair Engineering has developed several commercial application programs, targeting various problem classes. These include:

Altair HyperXtrude Altair HyperXtrude - An hp-adaptive finite element program for modeling complex material flow and heat transfer during polymer and metal extrusion. As a primary area of specialization, HyperXtrude focuses on three-dimensional modeling and extrusion die design.
Altair HyperXtrude/PROCESS Altair HyperXtrude/PROCESS - Process analysis and optimization software for aluminum extrusion plants. HyperXtrude/PROCESS allows the users to be actively involved with process optimization, cost-estimation, project planning, and productivity calculations.
PHLEXsolid [link] PHLEXsolid - an hp-adaptive finite element code for high-accuracy stress and deformation analysis of structural components. In addition to the standard linear elasticity modeling options, PHLEXsolid can also handle large deformations, normal modes, nonlinear materials, rigid body contact and nonlinear dynamic analysis.
PHLEXcrack [link] PHLEXcrack - an hp-adaptive meshless code base on specialized version of EPM (Element Partition Method). A research code for the efficient analysis of static and dynamic fracture models, including prediction of crack growth (speed, direction) in dynamic impact analysis. Much faster and accurate than traditional FE fracture codes due to the ability to analyze the crack surface arbitrarily located within the mesh (across the discretization cells).
Altair ReSolution ReSolution- simulation program for modeling underground multi-phase flow in oil reservoirs with complex geological structure. Developed in cooperation with Texaco, ReSolution has unique capabilities for accurately representing near-well flow, multi-phase phenomena, and complex wells.

Additionally, the Texas office contributes to HyperWorks and other software development at Altair Engineering, and performs proprietary software development for specific customers, such as tire modeling software for the Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co.

Besides the above commercial software, Altair Engineering has also developed many specialized, R&D codes for various classes of problems including: damage prediction,  multi-body CFD simulation, flow-structure interaction, friction modeling, crack simulation and others (some of these codes are described in our Research page).
