Services
The Texas office
of Altair Engineering provides a broad spectrum of services in Applied
and Computational Mechanics. We help our customers improve their products
and simulation capabilities by implementing specialized finite element
software, developing new computational technologies, and solving challenging
engineering problems.
Custom Software
Development
Based on the hp-adaptive finite
element PHLEX kernel, our engineers
perform custom software development for commercial and government customers.
This is accomplished under a variety of technical and business arrangements,
such as:
-
funded software development
performed by Altair engineers according to customer's specifications,
-
joint development work shared
between the customer and Altair, and
-
development performed by the
customer using our ProPHLEX
package, with support and consulting from Altair.
Examples of such partnerships
include tire modeling codes developed for NASA and Goodyear, oil reservoir
simulation software developed in cooperation with Texaco, and a store separation
modeling code developed for the Air Force.
Engineering Services
Based on a foundation of unique
customization qualities of ProPHLEX and a long history of
R&D work, Altair Engineering offers advanced engineering services and
consulting in Applied Mechanics. The primary consulting areas include:
CFD Services
We provide CFD analysis services
using in-house specialized codes HyperXtrude
and UniSim, or other
commercial CFD software as needed. Some typical CFD consulting applications
include:
-
modeling internal and external
flows in nozzles, pumps and other devices,
-
modeling manufacturing processes,
such as extrusion and RTM,
-
simulating one-phase and two-phase
flows in oil reservoirs, and
-
accurate modeling of near-well
behavior, including non-conventional oil wells.
See selected example
solutions that illustrate these capabilities.
Structural Mechanics
Services
Utilizing Altair's high-accuracy hp-adaptive
FEA
codes PHLEXsolid
and PHLEXcrack,
we provide structural analysis services in:
-
modeling stress and deformation
of critical structural components,
-
predicting friction-induced
vibrations in mechanical components,
-
modeling crack propagation under
dynamic loading,
-
developing constitutive models
of contact and friction from profilometric surface information.
Other classes of structural
mechanics problems can also be solved using in-house or commercial
FEA software, such as Nastran or Abaqus.
